College students, USA TODAY invites you to submit your best work on topics at issue on your campus, in our nation or around the world. Submissions can be in any appropriate format (written, audio, video, photographic, etc.). All must focus on a current issue. No length requirement. On the last day of each month, our curators will select the three most distinctive submissions. Those selected pieces will be reviewed by a USA TODAY editor, who will provide personal feedback. |
- Author must be a current enrolled college student.
- The submission must focus on a current event or issue facing a population, not an individual.
- All genres, lengths, and formats are accepted.
- Previously published pieces can be submitted, with proper consent.
- College journalists may submit a URL to their submission, if previously published in their campus newspaper or another publication.
- When submitting a piece, the first field asks for your "Occupation." In that field, please enter your year in college, your major and the university you attend using the following format: "First-year journalism major at Bethel University."
- At the end of each month, the best three pieces submitted that month will be read and critiqued by a USA TODAY editor.
- By the middle of the next month, the editor’s comments will be published in the Voices Gallery so that all writers can benefit from his/her insights.
- The curator is looking for concise, incisive pieces with attention to grammatical detail.
USA TODAY Education's mission is to help students become engaged, informed, and successful citizens by supporting the effective use of USA TODAY in the academic setting. Their education programs are currently in place in over 25,000 K-12 classes and on 500+ universities and community college campuses, impacting over 1 million students daily.
You are eligible to submit one composition (or a link to a composition already posted on the Internet) per gallery. You should not submit the same composition to more than one gallery. When you click "contribute my writing now," you will be prompted for information about your piece and about yourself. You can share this information with readers through the site search engine, or to keep it sheltered from searches. The more information you allow to be public, the more readers for your piece.
